VeriSign to Deploy DNS Site In Korea August 13, 2003
VeriSign (verisign.com) announced yesterday plans to deploy one of its global DNS constellation sites in Korea to improve traffic stability in the region.
The Korea Network Information Center (KRNIC), the registry of the .kr country code top-level domain extension, will host the constellation site.
The company said the deployment of the constellation site is being made in order to improve the Internet response time for Korean and other East Asian users. The move is also designed to help improve the ability of the Korean Internet infrastructure to withstand distributed denial of service attacks and other malicious viruses.
"We are very pleased to be making this significant investment in the Korean infrastructure because we recognize Korea is a world-wide leader in technology," said Rusty Lewis, executive vice-president of VeriSign's naming and directory services. "We look forward to collaborating with KRNIC on this and other future initiatives."
